PREP Activities

PREP scholar meetings occur approximately weekly in the fall and monthly in the spring semester. Meeting topics may include workshops for resume and CV building, graduate school applications, developing a relationship with your mentor, writing in research, developing poster presentations, networking, and interview preparation.

PREP scholars also have the opportunity to participate in any extracurricular activities available to ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë SA students including those hosted by the Graduate School and the student organizations such as Graduate Student International Club, SACNAS, WISDOM etc. This may include seminars by guest speakers, cultural celebrations, potlucks, and other various events hosted by student organizations at ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë SA.

In addition, PREP scholars are encouraged to participate in all IMSD activities, participate in research symposia such as The , and volunteer at activities such as . Given the variety of opportunities available, PREP scholars will receive a well-rounded experience during their time in the program.

Best Poster Presentation by a post-baccalaureate student

PREP scholars presented posters in the 20th Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) held in Anaheim, CA, from Nov 9 – Nov 12. Congratulations to Alexia Collier and her mentor, , for receiving an award for Best Poster Presentation by a post-baccalaureate student in the cancer biology category!
